Safe Traveling Tips, Guidelines, & Procedures

Your Safety Is Our Top Priority

The safety of our riders will always be our number one priority. We take into account all facets of safety as well. This includes the quality of our vehicle, the cleanliness of the interior, and even your comfortability. The reason we include comfort is because we know that when you feel comfortable you can relax more. That feeling allows you to be more at ease and therefore, more safe.

The intention of this information is not to lecture or command. Rather, to educate and provide viable options for you, our riders. Know that every decision we make we do so with you in mind. The following content has been created so that you may be able to return and reference the website.

Tips For Safe Travel

Since you are not operating the vehicle that you’ll be riding in, safety doesn’t look like it traditionally does in transportation. Here are few good tips to consider when traveling with Salt Lake Express:

  1. Make sure that you know and understand your route. This will provide an layer of safety that isn’t seen, but felt. Knowing where you’re going and what stops are made along your route adds a level of assurance and confidence in travel.
  2. Be mindful and aware of your own health. If there’s a positive thing that came out of the pandemic, it’s that we might be more considerate of our own health and how it can impact those around us. While you are no longer required to wear a mask or face covering on public transportation anymore, it’s good to protect others if you do feel under the weather. Our riders are welcome to continue to wear masks if they feel more comfortable doing so.
  3. Listen. Always listen to your bus driver when it comes to safety. Our drivers are well-trained and knowledgeable. They know the best and safest procedures and guidelines to follow when transporting groups of people on the road.

How We’re Ensuring Safe Travel

Our latest campaign, titled Nicer, Newer, Friendlier, Cleaner, emphasizes all the ways that we are going above and beyond when it comes to taking care of you and our vehicles. We have only produced the first two videos so far, but you can learn more by watching them below.

Guidelines & Logistical Procedures

Departure Times for Shuttle Locations

We suggest that you be at the departure location 10-15 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. We reserve the right to depart locations on time to avoid shuttle delays.

Allow Enough Time at the Airport

Airports and airlines request that you be at the airport 2 hours before your scheduled departure time for domestic flights and 2-3 hours for flights outside the United States. This suggested time allowance will vary with time of day, season, weather and airport security level. You may need more time during peak travel periods. Airlines reserve the right to close the doors to the aircraft up to 20 minutes prior to their scheduled departure. The airlines departure time means DEPARTURE TIME – not boarding time.

After everyone has boarded the aircraft, it requires another 15 minutes before they finish their checks and depart. Part of the airlines concern is that you allow enough time to get to the airport. You must also take into account possible shuttle delays. We strive hard to be on-time, and are always looking at ways to maintain a good “on-time record,” however, there are many things that can delay the shuttle. (See “Terms & Conditions” – #18) Salt Lake Express cannot guarantee any times any more than the airlines are able to guarantee times. Nearly all missed flights have resulted when passengers have allowed less than one (1) hour at the airport. Be a smart traveler by allowing enough time.

Shuttle Luggage Space

We plan on a reasonable amount of luggage on each shuttle. If you will have more than two (2) suitcases and a carry on, you need to call the office to make sure we will have room. If you show up with more than this, we will accept it on a space available basis. Also, you may be charged $10.00 per suitcase or box over the two (2) suitcases allowed.

Pick-Up/Drop-Off at Other Locations

If you desire to make a reservation to/from a location that is not listed on the website, please call the office to make sure it is available. To help keep our shuttles “on time” we need to manage “extra stops.” Also, there is an additional stop charge for any stop that is not listed and this charge may vary. If you make your reservation online and put in the notes that you want a different stop, that request will not be honored until you contact the office, make arrangements, and pay any additional fee.
